Noticing the world, one haiku at a time !

In the summers, my father and I would set up birdhouses in our little garden. Every summer, the sparrows would come back, looking for a safe space to build their nests.

Bringing twigs, then later when their eggs are hatched, feeding the chicks, and teaching them to fly. It was absolutely magical how life unfolded in front of us.

We would keep clean water available all the time, along with quality bird food, grains, etc. The bird feeder is always filled, inviting all sorts of other guests as well, from house sparrows and squirrels to bulbuls, parrots, and crows.

Hello there, as mentioned in my previous post, I did a little poetry challenge in order to continue my writing in fun way. And now, here I am sharing the result of the little venture of thirty days writing challenge.

I did a 30 days poetry writing challenge

The first half of 2023 was just plain empty in terms of writing. Because of work, I couldn’t write and also, there was a major writer’s block (yeah, that happens) 🙂

So after getting a chance to travel in May and June, I found my creativity back and started writing again. Although, didn’t publish many haiku/senryu. Well, I mostly write haiku poetry and in awe of this art. I wrote lot of poems and enjoyed the journey.

How to write long poems?

You might have come across various styles of poetry, long, short, rhyming, non-rhyming, with imagery, without imagery etc etc.

So writing one, especially when you are a beginner seems a daunting task. And writing and re-writing the first draft becomes so tedious.

How to find inspiration for your poems !

Poems, I believe, are an extra-ordinary moment in our ordinary lives. And writing one makes you feel so connected to yourself and your surrounding.

Few days ago while reading a book in our little garden, I saw at some distance there was a dove, trying to find twigs for the nest as the breeding season is approaching.

When was the last time that you stopped to look at the starry sky, setting sun or a flower or a butterfly. When was the last time when something completely mesmerized you, something so ordinary yet took you by surprise. Think, as sometime such subtle moments change the course of time. And I believe that’s what poetry do !
