{"id":471,"date":"2026-01-21T11:01:52","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T05:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aswordsfly.com\/?page_id=471"},"modified":"2026-02-11T21:11:30","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T15:41:30","slug":"submissions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/aswordsfly.com\/index.php\/submissions\/","title":{"rendered":"Submissions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>As Words Fly \u2013 The Bougainvillea Journal<\/em> welcomes thoughtful, sincere, soulful writing that is full of human experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are a home for small poems, prose, and reflections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What We Publish<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Poetry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Per submission- <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Haiku (1-5) or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senryu (1-5) or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tanka (1-5) or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Micro poetry(1-3)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p>[a micro poem could be as small as a breath, from one line to expand to 1- 8 lines.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We don&#8217;t strictly adhere to 5-7-5 syllable count but the true essence of Haiku and Tanka poetry is what we are looking for. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Kigo as per season is especially encouraged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prose<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Short essays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Literary reflections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Book reviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccf <em>Prose length:<\/em> preferably <strong>200\u2013500 words<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions in <strong>English and Hindi<\/strong> are warmly encouraged in Prose section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Submission Window: 1st Feb &#8211; 10th Feb 2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note: submissions outside the submission window will not be considered or read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Theme (optional)- Marigolds \ud83c\udff5\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this issue, a mix of haiku, senryu, tanka, micro poem submission is allowed but it should not exceed more than 5 pieces.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is our inaugural issue, and we\u2019re excited to read your work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Submission Guidelines<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submissions are free<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit original, unpublished work only<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, but please inform us if your work is accepted elsewhere<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To help us read with care, we ask that submissions be made to one category at a time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please include a <strong>short third-person bio<\/strong> (2\u20133 lines)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Submit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Submit your poem(s) using the Google Form<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Link- when new submissions start, the link will be made available. <\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the instructions in the form, you&#8217;re good to go ! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And if there&#8217;s any formatting and space issue, you can also email your submission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udce7 aswordsfly.editorial@gmail.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re using email then-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \ud83d\udcddWrite &#8216;<strong>submission<\/strong>&#8216; in the Subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udcddPoem(s) in the body of email, along with your <strong>name, country and a short bio<\/strong> (2-3 lines) with a small declaration mentioned below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udcddRemember to &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paste your work in the body of email. Attachments will not be opened.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include your name, country and short author bio as you\u2019d like us to use if your poem is published.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And a small declaration at the end. &#8220;I, <em>your name<\/em>, confirm that this submission is my original work and I grant The Bougainvillea Journal the right to publish it.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If any notes for the editor, type only in the body of email.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the submission guidelines and disclaimers before clicking Submit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You retain full rights to your work. By submitting, you grant us the right to publish your poem, with full credit given to you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What We Look For<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We value:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sincerity and authenticity <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A compassionate way of seeing life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attention to nature, silence, daily moments, and the inner world<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Writing that feels calm, reflective, and emotionally honest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We welcome only original human-written work. Submissions created using AI tools will not be accepted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We are less interested in perfection and more drawn to depth, presence and clarity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We do not publish political advocacy, explicit adult content, religious proselytizing, or violent\/harmful material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any submission that violates these guidelines may result in future submissions being declined or banned.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Response Time<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We are a small journal.<br>Please allow <strong>2\u20134 weeks<\/strong> for a response. If you do not hear back within this time, feel free to follow up gently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rights<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Writers retain full copyright of their work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By submitting, you grant us the right to publish your work on our platform with due credit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All submissions must be <strong>original work<\/strong>.<br>Plagiarism or copied content will be declined and may result in a ban.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Editors reserve the right to edit for clarity and format, request revisions, or decline submissions at their discretion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our editorial team reviews submissions carefully. However, we cannot be held liable for plagiarized content that is not identified during review.
